University to host variety of summer academic, athletic camps
The Ã山ǿ¼é is excited to announce a variety of summer camps. Read more on each below:
Academic
Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education Explore Ã山ǿ¼é Summer Series (Grades 9-12)
The Ã山ǿ¼é Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education is hosting the Explore Ã山ǿ¼é Summer Series, a collection of two-day STEM mini-camps for high school students entering grades 9–12. Designed for busy families, these hands-on camps give students the opportunity to explore STEM fields, experience collegiate-level coursework, connect with Ã山ǿ¼é faculty and industry partners and learn more about majors within the Pott College.
Camps will be offered throughout June and July on campus.
Space is limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis upon payment.
Southwest Indiana STEM (SwISTEM) Middle School Robotics and Science Camp (Grades 6-8)
The SwISTEM Robotics and Science Camp is designed for middle school students interested in hands-on learning and exploration. The camp combines engaging challenges with LEGO robotics to introduce the engineering design process while also exposing participants to a variety of science and engineering disciplines through activities in Ã山ǿ¼é labs. Students will also enjoy a rock-climbing session at the Ã山ǿ¼é Recreation, Fitness and Wellness Center.
The week-long camp concludes with a celebratory outing in partnership with the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana.
There are two options for this camp: Beginner Robotics and Science Camp and Intermediate Robotics and Science Camp. Additional information on both can be found on the Robotics and Science Camp webpage.
College of Liberal Arts Summer Academy (Grades 9-12)
The College of Liberal Arts will host the third annual CLA Summer Academy Monday through Friday, June 1-5. The Academy will include classes in short film, podcasting, woodworking, yoga, community change and many others to introduce high schoolers to the world of liberal arts.
Go Viral: Be a Disease Detective (Grades 7 and 8)
The Southwest Indiana Area Health Education Center (SWI-AHEC), in collaboration with the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation’s Southern Indiana Career and Technical Center (SICTC) is hosting a one week summer public health camp, Go Viral: Be a Disease Detective. The camp is for students currently in seventh and eighth grades in Gibson, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick counties who are interested in exploring epidemiology and careers in public health.
The camp will be held June 1-5 at the SICTC located at 1901 Lynch Road in Evansville.
Athletic
Aucoin Volleyball Camps (All ages)
Ã山ǿ¼é Volleyball Head Coach Jeff Aucoin will offer a variety of camps, including All Skills Camp, FUNdamentals Youth Clinic, Advanced Defense Camp and an array of others, this summer. Camps are available for students K-12. Specific camp type details and dates are available at the registration information link below.
Rick Stein Basketball Camps (Grades 9-12)
Ã山ǿ¼é Basketball Head Coach Rick Stein will offer a variety of camps, including JV and Varsity Team Camps and an Elite Camp. Each camp will focus on skill development, college-level drills and team competitions. All camps will run during the month of June.
Screagle Swim Camp (Ages 7-18)
The Screagle Swim Camp will feature a combination of stroke analysis, instruction and conditioning. Every camper will have the opportunity to get each of the four strokes filmed and analyzed, with one-on-one coaching from the Ã山ǿ¼é Swim and Dive coaching staff.
