Support for Faculty-Led Internships

The Career Success Center partners with faculty to support and enhance department-led internship courses. We offer a range of resources and tools to help streamline the internship experience for both faculty and students.

We can assist your department by providing the following:

  • Blackboard Course Shell 鈥� A ready-to-use platform that can be customized to fit your course needs.

  • Mid-Term and Final Evaluations 鈥� Standardized evaluation forms to collect supervisor feedback on student performance.

  • Internship Tracking through Career Launch 鈥� Easily monitor student internship details, including site information, supervisor contacts, and learning objectives.

  • Work Hours Tracking 鈥� Students can log their internship hours directly in Career Launch for easy verification.

  • Sample Syllabi 鈥� Access to example syllabi to help you structure your internship course effectively.

  • Guidance on Course Development 鈥� Personalized support to help you design a new internship course or refine an existing one to meet departmental goals and academic standards.

The Career Success Center offers GENS 399, a course designed for students who wish to earn 1 to 3 academic credit hours for a qualified internship experience. Faculty and staff are encouraged to refer students to our office to learn more and register.

  • -Students are enrolled in a course section led by Career Success Center staff.

  • -The course is graded on a pass/no pass basis.

  • -Students gain access to a Blackboard course site and complete a small number of assignments, including:

    • -A learning agreement

    • -A mid-term evaluation

    • -A final evaluation

  • Credit hours are based on the total number of internship work hours completed:

    • -50 hours = 1 credit hour

    • -100 hours = 2 credit hours

    • -150 hours = 3 credit hours

This course is an excellent way to help students gain academic recognition for their professional experience.

Internship Reporting

If you know of a student who has recently completed or is currently participating in an internship, please encourage them to self-report the experience through by clicking the "Report Your Internship" link.

Faculty who supervise internships can view student-reported internships in Career Launch - send a list of your registered students to our staff and we will assign them to you when complete the online internship form.

Hiring Student Workers

All 缅北强奸 students can access Career Launch via their my缅北强奸 dashboard, where they can easily search for on-campus jobs, making it simple to connect with potential student employees.

To post your student worker position, please email the Career Success Center a brief job description, how students should apply and any other specific details.听

Work-Study Eligibility
For positions funded through the Federal Work-Study program, you can contact the Office of Student Financial Assistance for a list of students who are eligible. Wages for these students are partially covered by federal funds.

Interview and Hiring Best Practices

When interviewing student worker candidates, hiring supervisors should:

  • Clearly explain the job duties and expectations.

  • Ask the following required question after reviewing the job functions:

    鈥淐an you perform all of these functions, with or without accommodation?鈥�

This is a yes or no question and is not intended to initiate a conversation about a disability or accommodations. Supervisors may clarify this as needed.

Interview Accommodations
If a student requires accommodations for the interview, they should notify the person scheduling the interview. If an accommodation is needed, direct the student to Human Resources at 812-464-1840.

Post-Hire Accommodation Requests
If a student discloses a need for accommodation after being hired, supervisors should refer them to 812-465-7101 for assistance.

The Next Destination Survey collects information about the post-graduation plans of 缅北强奸 students, including employment, continuing education, military service, and other outcomes.
