Packing List

What to Pack

Most residents share about 700 square feet with three other students, so space is limited. Pack lightly and plan to buy additional items after you arrive鈥攕tores like Walmart and nearby grocery stores are close to campus.

Tip: Room sizes can vary slightly by building, so wait until move-in to measure before buying extra items.

Packing Tips

  • Use smaller containers instead of one large, heavy box.
  • Avoid plastic bags.
    • Use reusable bins or containers you can also use for storage during the year.
  • Coordinate with your roommate(s) on shared items (e.g., TV, microwave) to avoid duplicates.
  • Do not bring large furniture. Rooms are already furnished.
    • If you bring a large item, disassemble it before moving in if possible.

Clothing

  • Keep clothes on hangers and cover them with a trash bag (like a garment bag). Tie the bottom to keep items secure and easy to carry.
  • If possible, leave winter clothing at home and swap it out during a visit later in the semester.

Electrical Cords

  • Secure cords to items when packing to prevent tripping hazards during move-in.

Electronics and Fragile Items

  • Pack items in boxes where they cannot move around.
  • Use padding such as:
    • Bubble wrap
    • Towels
    • Blankets
  • Fill empty spaces in boxes to protect items during transport.

Mini Fridge

  • If bringing a mini fridge that has been in use:
    • Unplug it early to allow time to defrost and dry completely.
  • Residence hall kitchenettes include a mini fridge, but you may bring your own.
    • Maximum size allowed: 4.4 cubic feet
