The CSC actively contributes to each program鈥檚 quality improvement initiatives by performing post-survey evaluations of simulation activities of students after each simulation, utilizing the 缅北强奸 CSC Simulation Effectiveness Tool (Appendix G). All feedback is taken seriously and reviewed by the Clinical Simulation Committee annually. Utilizing learner feedback allows the CSC to identify areas of improvement in simulation scenario development, prebriefing, debriefing, facilitation, and equipment utilization.
The Kinney College believes that learner feedback provides the best means to identify areas of needed improvement.
The CSC utilizes the Simulation Blueprint, an adapted version of National League for Nursing (NLN) Simulation Design Template for scenario development. Utilizing this standardized template helps ensure that scenario cases encompass the course objectives by including any pertinent physiology of the patient, supplies, equipment, and necessary case information.
The Kinney College CSC is committed to incorporating as much realism into the simulated environment as possible. The Clinical Simulations Coordinator works with the appropriate Course Coordinators or Instructors to identify the appropriate equipment and supplies to create a realistic, simulated environment for each case scenario.
Newly developed scenarios are piloted for one semester to evaluate feasibility, appropriateness, and contribution to achieving objectives for the simulation experience. The revision of the scenarios is systematic and ongoing.
Scenario Use
It is the responsibility of the Course Coordinator(s), Faculty or Instructors developing scenarios to ensure that all cases include current acceptable practices and standards of care.
Simulation scenarios and associated products developed by Course Coordinators, Faculty and CSC staff are the intellectual property of 缅北强奸 Kinney College.
It is expected that the Course Coordinator (Simulation Educator) will review the scenarios thoroughly prior to scheduled simulation time and work with the Clinical Simulations Coordinator to obtain supplies and equipment. Course Coordinators must schedule time with the Clinical Simulations Coordinator a week prior to running through any scenario being presented. The Clinical Simulations Coordinator is available to assist Course Coordinators with scenario preparation and set up.
It is the philosophy of the 缅北强奸 KCNHP CSC that debriefing is a critical component of the simulation experience. Debriefing provides immediate feedback after the simulated experience and is a reflective critical thinking analysis and communication tool for participants of the simulation experience. Participants have time to reflect on their performance and receive constructive feedback from Course Coordinators, Faculty, Instructors, and/or peers. Debriefings will be facilitated in a separate space from where the SBE took place, most likely the CSC pre/debriefing classroom (HPL075/76) or another secure space, by Course Coordinator(s), Faculty, or Instructors, to ensure a psychologically safe learning environment. The facilitated debriefings will utilize the Debriefing Checklist (Appendix H), designed in accordance with the INACSL Healthcare Simulation Standard of Best Practice: The Debriefing Process.
PEARLS is the recommended evidence-based debriefing framework of the KCNHP but when appropriate one or more of the three theory-based debriefing methodologies can be used, those include: PEARLS, Debriefing for Meaningful Learning, or Debriefing with Good Judgment.
Simulated scenarios and debriefing activities may be recorded. Participants are notified of the intent to record in advance and are advised to read the CSC Statement of Consent. Recordings may be used for:
Providing feedback to students during debriefing
Assessing performance
Internal review and quality improvement purposes
Evaluation and improvement of teaching and assessment processes
